About Me

Ellen Riccardi

Having worked for 20+ years at non-profits, I’ve spent the majority of my career helping people accomplish their goals and further their education.

While I appreciate my former career, everything changed for me when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in my early 40s. That experience caused me to look at myself, my career, and the world around me through a different lens. I was blessed to see how healing and powerful love, kindness and support can be when you feel frightened and vulnerable. Following the completion of my treatment I quit my job, sold my house, moved to the Northeast, and enrolled in a master’s program for professional counseling.

After earning my master’s degree as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Connecticut, I worked in a variety of mental health settings including an outpatient client, college counseling center, inpatient psychiatric facility for adults and children, and an Intensive Outpatient Program for people struggling with acute mental illness. During this time period I began to develop my private practice and partnered with Integrative Medicine & Support Services through Bridgeport Hospital. The majority of my clients are people who are dealing with a cancer diagnosis.

I specialize in working with adults struggling with anxiety, depression and difficult life transitions. I've developed and taught groups on reducing anxiety, improving sleep, and mindfulness-based practices. Use of breath work, meditation, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and supportive psychotherapy can help you calm your nervous system and manage your life.

In my free time, I enjoy walking on the beach, spending time with friends and family, traveling, snuggling with my cat, and reading mystery novels.
